Youth Rugby Academy

Ages 9 to 17

At Overseas RFC, we’re dedicated to fostering a love for rugby among young players while emphasising values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development. Our youth section provides a fun, inclusive, and safe environment where children can learn and grow both on and off the field. We also incorporate World Rugby’s core values in everything we do, that that helps to develop players within a social and moral context. The Game’s core values are:
•     INTEGRITY – Integrity is central to the fabric of the Game and is generated through honesty and fair play.
•     PASSION – Rugby people have a passionate enthusiasm for the Game. Rugby generates excitement, emotional attachment and a sense of belonging to the global Rugby family.
•     SOLIDARITY – Rugby provides a unifying spirit that leads to lifelong friendships, camaraderie, teamwork and loyalty which transcends cultural, geographic, political and religious differences.
•     DISCIPLINE – Discipline is an integral part of the Game, both on and off the field, and is reflected through adherence to the Laws, the Regulations and Rugby’s core values.
•     RESPECT – Respect for teammates, opponents, match officials and those involved in the Game is paramount.
We are an ‘Open’ Club and as such will happily accept all who wish to come along and give rugby a try.

What We Offer:
1.    Professional Coaching: Our experienced coaches are passionate about rugby and are committed to helping every child reach their full potential. They provide structured training sessions that focus on skill development, game understanding, and fitness.
2.    Age-Appropriate Programs: We offer programs tailored to different age groups, ensuring that children receive developmentally appropriate coaching and challenges. From our minis program for the youngest players to our youth teams for teenagers, there’s something for everyone Overseas RFC.
3.    Competitive Opportunities: For those who are eager to test their skills in a competitive setting, we participate in games with local clubs and touring side. These opportunities allow players to showcase their abilities, learn from competition, and bond with teammates.
4.    Focus on Fun: While we take rugby seriously, we also understand the importance of having fun. Our sessions incorporate enjoyable drills, games, and activities to keep children engaged and motivated.
5.    Inclusivity: Rugby needs different physical attributes depending on the position players play which means that a number of children that struggle with other team sports will have an opportunity to excel at Rugby.
6.    Community Atmosphere: Overseas RFC is more than just a sports club; it’s a community. We encourage parents to get involved by volunteering, cheering on the sidelines, and supporting their children’s rugby journey.

What We Expect:
•     Respect: is built into the DNA of Rugby and is fundamental to our club’s values. We expect all players to show respect towards coaches, teammates, opponents, referees, and spectators at all times. We have found that the children take this respect with them to all aspects of their life including their school and home life.
•     Commitment: Rugby is a team sport that requires commitment and dedication. We ask that players attend training sessions regularly, arrive on time, and give their best effort during practices and matches.
•     Sportsmanship: Winning is important, but so is how we win. We expect our players to demonstrate good sportsmanship, whether they’re celebrating victory or facing defeat. This includes shaking hands with opponents, congratulating teammates, and accepting decisions made by officials with grace.
•     Teamwork: Rugby is one of the most team-oriented sports in the world where the only way to win is to work together as a unit to overcome any obstacles put in your way. Rugby teaches children how to effectively work with others and that achieving your goals as part of a team is much more rewarding than doing so as an individual.
•     Safety: The safety of our players is our top priority. We expect children to follow safety guidelines, listen to instructions from coaches, and use proper techniques to minimize the risk of injury.
•     Enjoyment: Above all, we want children to enjoy playing rugby. We encourage them to have fun, make friends, and embrace the challenges and excitement that come with being part of a team.
