On Saturday 9th August, the MRFU Women’s Working Group and the Ladies Representative organised a Fun Day which was held in Pretty Bay, Birzebbugia. Ladies from different rugby teams, including Swieqi Overseas RUFC, joined in for a day filled with fun activities. Members of the youth section where also present for this event. The aim of this day was that players form different teams, got to know each other better and work together as a team.
The day kicked off with Water Games. Participants also got to compete in; Frisbee, Lions and Tigers, Dodgeball, Water Volleyball, Shot put, Tug of War, and of course a game of Tag Rugby. Parents and children who happened to be on the beach, where also encouraged to participate. Members of MRFU Women’s Working Group and the Ladies Representative also prepared the traditional “Ftira biz-żejt”, which were sold for a minimal price. This was done in order to raise funds for women’s rugby in Malta and to support the Women’s National team for upcoming events, namely the IRB Women’s Sevens World Series in Dubai, which will be held in December.
After the success of this activity, the Women’s working group will be organising a similar event on the 22nd of August in Golden Bay. More details about this event will be given out soon.
