Fenkata Night

Overseas Rugby Club preaseason fenkata

Friday the 23rd of September saw our first meal night of the year as around 15 players met in Mgarr, in the restaurant called Tal-Ingliz, for some typical Maltese dishes consisting of Quail, Rabbit and Horse meat among other delicatessen such as Snails or Bruschetta.

This dinner was a perfect opportunity for all the new players in the team to get to know better the players off the pitch, as well as for any new comer in Malta as it gave them the opportunity to try (and love) some typical Maltese food.

Indeed, Swieqi Overseas Rugby club takes its pride from its Core Maltese group in which you can add many different nationalities such as: English, French, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Mexican, Italian, Dutch, Uruguayan, Spanish, Portuguese and many more. This melting pot of cultures, all enjoying the same sport and the same “love for food”, had to go and eat a proper Maltese dish before starting the season on this beautiful island. Mgarr and its restaurants was an obvious choice, and regarding the full bellies and the big smiles at the end of the night, this will definitely happen again.

This event was the last one organised before our first official game, the Ray Elliot Cup, which will be played on the 1st of October in Marsa, against Sliema Stompers: https://www.facebook.com/events/181568082271015/

A very nice evening with the Rugby family, with some fantastic food, and enough protein to keep us going until next weekend and hopefully get our first trophy of the season.

2.. 3.. Overseas!
